Royal Caribbean International will significantly expand its Hong Kong homeport operations in 2025, doubling its sailings from the city. The cruise line, which is Hong Kong's longest-standing homeporting operator, announced plans for an extended season with 10 homeport sailings onboard Spectrum of the Seas, complemented by additional departures on Ovation of the Seas.

Spectrum of the Seas will offer a variety of itineraries in 2025, ranging from 4 to 11 nights, visiting destinations across Japan, Taiwan, and Vietnam. A highlight is an 11-night immersive cruise through Japan departing on 23 November 2025, with stops in Fukuoka, Sakaiminato, Kanazawa, Maizuru, and Sasebo. Shorter 2-night weekend getaways will also be available, catering to those seeking a brief yet rejuvenating escape.

Ovation of the Seas will begin its 2025 season with a 5-night Easter Monday sailing, an ideal option for families and group celebrations.

The arrival of Spectrum of the Seas in Hong Kong on 6 December 2024 will bring over 4,800 international visitors, with more than 20,000 additional arrivals expected over the next two months.

Benjamin Bouldin, president of Royal Caribbean International, China, highlighted Hong Kong's appeal as a cruise hub, stating: “Hong Kong stands as a captivating destination in its own right, attracting global visitors with its unique East meets West culture… Moreover, Hong Kong's advantageous geographical location, coupled with its visa-free access to citizens of some 170 countries and regions, positions the city as the prospective Asian cruise hub."

This expansion aligns with Hong Kong’s broader tourism recovery efforts, with nearly 37 million visitors recorded in the first 10 months of 2024, and a projected 30% year-on-year growth in 2025.
