Philippines seeks quick justice for tourists

The Philippines plans to introduce a 24-hour court dedicated to resolving alleged crimes against tourists.

The Department of Tourism (DOT) is also backing increased police presence across areas of the Philippines with a high concentration of tourists, such as Mindanao.

DOT secretary Christina Garcia Frasco said the 24/7 tourist courts would help aid in the swift resolution of cases where tourists are involved.

“Overall, the effort is to build confidence in tourism for the Philippines,” the tourism chief said.
